McGee Garden of Hope
Planted on Friday, April 20
As a community of individuals who treasure each other, McGee has many continuing
challenges this year. New babies are arriving for whom we wish happy and
healthy futures with loving, wise, and strong parents who can count on the help
of McGee “aunts” and “uncles.” Others are dealing with gaps in their lives.
Some have lost those that they love and are slowly rebuilding their lives
filling the emptiness with hard work, the help of friends and family, and the
good memories about those who will not return. For others, loved ones are in
danger serving overseas, so our colleagues must take care of the family’s
affairs state-side, keep morale high for those who are away, and wish for the
safe return of those who are absent. In addition, some at McGee are dealing
with serious illnesses and must undergo the tests and treatments that they need
to fight the diseases. This garden can be a tangible way to express the hope
that we have for the all in the McGee community and the support that we offer to
them to successfully meet the challenges that they have received.
Next year, the garden should be in bloom at the time of the promotion ceremony
for the grade-8 students. It will represent our continuing best wishes and
hopes for their future.
