Growing Up with Science includes all branches of science studied in middle schools.

Videos-on-Demand Video and video clips from United Streaming to jazz up your presentations and to help you understand concepts visually.  Ask Ms. Averill, Mrs. Mortensen, or Mrs. Sencio for the username for a McGee student and the password for a student.  Faculty and staff may set up an individual accounts with a pass code that is available from the lmc staff.  The videos  play best with Quick Time or the free VLC Media Player unless you download the Windows Media Player patch from United Streaming

Find out what titles are included in this program that rewards you for being the good readers that you are.  Read a book that is on the title list or in the database base, schedule and pass a story-fact test, earn points that you can use to buy prizes.

After students have been registered in the AR  Program, they may take tests on any computer on the McGee Computer Network.

Berlin Citizen The Berlin Citizen is a weekly newspaper mailed free to all residents and businesses in Berlin, East Berlin and Kensington, CT. Contemporary Authors This  offers current biographical and bibliographical data on more than 120,000 modern authors. It is easy to search for an author by name, title of work, subject/genre, nationality, date and place of birth, honors, awards and much more. Look for recent information on J.K. Rowling, Isaac Asimov, Isabel Allende, Michael Crichton, and many many others.  To access the database you will need your Berlin-Peck library card.
Classical Music Library Alexander Street Press provides an extensive collection recordings of classical music that can be listened to an home.  Click on the database from the Berlin-Peck Database list.
Smithsonian Global Sound Recordings of music and spoken word from the United States and around the world.  The emphasis is on materials important to the folk culture of the peoples of the countries.  Click on the database from the Berlin-Peck Database list.
Theatre in Video More than 200 hours of filmed performances, including the entire BBC Shakespeare Collection, are in the Alexander Street’s Theatre in Video.  View the best actors of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries- including Meryl Streep, Richard Dreyfuss, Kevin Kline, and Kenneth Brannagh.  The videos are streamed in user-friendly Flash format that works on both Macs and PCs. All you need is your Berlin Library card.

Science Reference Center
